Ideas for a fun and lively baby room

In decorating the baby room, there are different things to consider. You may want to think about convenience, functionality, safety, and aesthetics. For many parents, these factors are important in designing and decorating the baby room.

Here are some ideas on how to have a fun and lively baby room:

1. Be sure that all the things you need are within arm’s reach from the changing table – your baby requires many things such as diapers, wipes, more diapers, changing covers, hamper, diaper disposal system, burp cloths, feeding bottles, and many others. For safety reasons, these items should be within easy reach from the changing table. The very last that we want to happen is step away from the baby and risk him rolling off because you need to get something from the cabinet or from the bed.

2. A clutterless room – from time to time, you will be carrying your baby around the room. Certain misplaced items, such as chair, toy, book, and many others can cause you to trip, and well many things may happen then. Make sure that the baby room has enough functional storage space to easily keep things when you’re done with them.

3. Use washable wallpaper to decorate the walls – remember that there will be a point in the growth of your baby that it will become messy: pee spray, food stuffs, toddler writing on the walls, and many others. Washable wallpaper makes it possible to clean these mess without the risk of damaging the wallpaper.

4. Check the lights – it is wise to have the lighting of your room to mimic nighttime anytime. Therefore, it is recommended to have a curtain or window shade to fake the dark when it’s time fro a nap during the day. This will help in training your baby that darkness means bedtime. You can also use nightlight bulbs that can be purchased from any hardware store.

5. Choose a theme for the room – there are many different decor themes for the room. You can check the internet for ideas as well as magazines and interior design books. Nowadays, you can also purchase online if you do not have the time to go to stores for baby room decorations. You can choose animals, cartoon characters, beautiful scenery, different kinds of toys, as the theme for the baby room.

6. Decorate the walls – there are many things to consider as wall art for the baby room. Framed prints that are designed for babies or even themed prints may be placed on the walls. You can also frame printed fabric swatches that are unique and loved by many girls.

7. Use gray – many would think that white is the ideal color for the baby room. This may be true in other rooms, especially if you are into minimalism. However, in the baby room, pure white is not really that recommended. Remember that having a kid in the house may at times be messy. Therefore with white, dirt and any stains can be easily seen. Choose something that’s easy to wipe off and can somehow hide the stains.

8. Do away with the gender stereotypes – it is common for us to paint the baby room with colors that is always associated with gender. For instance, the moment we learned that our baby is a girl, we immediately buy a can of pink paint to color the walls. Well, sometimes it is nice to remove this gender stereotype from our system as it will just restrict us from the things that we want to incorporate in the baby room.

9. Decorate all you want – there is no strict rule in decorating the baby room. Remember that your baby will later on grow and that the baby room decoration will already be obsolete for your child. Enjoy while you still can. Decorate the baby room with anything that you think will look nice and can make the room fun filled and exciting.

10. Tiny babies need tiny spaces – the fact is that your baby does not need that much space and that when needed, the baby room can be divided into another functional room such as a home office or a reading room.
