Green is probably the most natural and earthly color on the planet. It is a soothing and calming color. These are some of the reasons why we feel so refreshed when we are surrounded by fresh green plants. Green is considered to be the most familiar color to the human eye and that there are different shades available that can be used in decorating our homes, from the paint color to the wallpaper designs to the furniture. Technically speaking, the shades of green may differ in terms of hue, chroma, lightness, or any combination of these factors. Being a color which is an integral part of nature, people tend to accept the color more than any other secondary colors. Green appears great in homes, especially if accents and textures were incorporated to enhance the design. 

Shades of green for the home interior

There are many shades of green that are known. However, bot all of these shades can be used in the home interior as they may not appear great. There are certain shades of green recommended by designers that will look appealing when used in our homes. Whatever green you choose will help set the mood of a room. Here are some greens that are recommended by designers for use in our homes:

1. Chartreuse – this is actually a French liquor and the color shares its quality with that of Absinthe-the-green fairy. The gloss the color evokes gives a sophisticated feeling when used in the interior.

2. Sage – shade of gray which is geared towards gray. It provides a washed out and dry sense.

3. Lime – considered to the most lively shade of green and reminds us of the color of summer. It is a combination of green and yellow which gives a raw and young feeling.

4. Olive – a dull shade of green and used to provide an antiquity and decorum look and feeling. The color leans toward gray and brown.

5. Emerald – considered to be a luxurious shade of green and when used in the interior can provide a royal and extravagant appearance.

6. Pear – combine yellow into green and you will get the shade. Pear is considered to be a cheerful color.

7. Shamrock – a dark and matte color and can be used to provide a discreet and muted down appearance.

8. Seafoam – considered to be a water of paradise and when used in the interior can provide a heavenly appearance.

9. Mint – described to be a greeny shade of green and is the shade closest to green. It projects freshness and springtime.

10. Seaweed green – considered to be a dead green color with a heavy influence of gray.

Ways to use green in the interior

Green appears well in any room. Just like in any other colors, too much use of the color may become an eyesore. This is what we want to avoid when painting the walls of your room. Green together with other shades of green or with other colors may create special effects. Green likewise provides you with the fresh and natural atmosphere when used in the home interior.

Here are some ways on how to use green in the interior to successfully create the mood and atmosphere you desire:

1. Green has no restrictions and can be used in any room of the house. The color can be used on an accent wall, on furniture, decorative pillows, rugs, accessories, paintings, lighting, vases. The color looks even better when it is combined with other colors.

2. Green can also be used in larger areas such as the living room, bathroom, bedroom, and study room. The color promotes an atmosphere of peace and tranquility, relaxing that are good for sleeping and different intellectual activities. Green can be combined with blue in the bedroom and have been known to lower blood pressure and heart rate.

3. Green can also give a sensation of freshness and increase in appetite, therefore it is also good in the dining room and kitchen. The color gives the best quality when combined with colors with similar effects such as red, orange, and yellow.
