The TRAVEL THE WORLD collection consists of Stina Wirsén's permanent collection of drawings depicting haute couture and street fashion from various places around the world. Some of the black and white drawings have been published in books and magazines; others have been shown at international exhibitions in India, Germany, and the United States.
Stina Wirsén's distinctive style, marked by bold colours, minimalist curves, and vibrant lines, is the leitmotif throughout the entire collection. The soft and sweeping movements of her hands are present in every drawing, blending seamlessly with the dynamic and beautiful ink lines and the spontaneous droplet — all of it comes together to give the collection a truly interesting expression.
Each wallpaper motif in the collection pulses with life and movement. We travel across locales, from the bright neon street signs of a vibrant Tokyo, on to a cosy classic Parisian café, then ending up in a familiar Stockholm neighbourhood among its style-conscious city dwellers.
All of the motifs in the TRAVEL THE WORLD collection exude a contemporary and modern aesthetic, one that matches well with all interior styles. The collection is sure to give the room an artistic character, creating a tasteful backdrop to everyday life. Stina Wirsén's expressive lines allow you to adorn your walls with beautiful custom-made artwork signed by one of Sweden's most renowned illustrators.
It has been great to work with Photowall on producing this new collection. It’s found its very own expression that differs from my other wallpaper motifs. The clean, raw lines, combined with the highly stylized drawings, ensures that the wallpaper finds a proper place for itself without necessarily ‘eating up’ the room. The idea behind the collection is that it should be updated regularly, since fashion always changes and never ceases to be interesting”, says Stina Wirsén.
About Stina Wirsén
Stina Wirsén, born in 1968, is one of Sweden's most well-known and beloved illustrators and children's book writers. Since graduating from Konstfack in 1992, she has worked as a professional illustrator. Stina's style is minimalistic and powerful — with just a few quick strokes of her brush or pen, she has the ability to capture the essence of her subject.
Many recognize Stina's characteristic images from Dagens Nyheter, where she has worked on pieces related to travel, portraits, and fashion — illustrations for which she has received numerous awards.
Stina has also worked with free art and public design. One of her most recent collaborations was with Photowall to decorate a playroom at the New Karolinska Hospital in Stockholm. Stina Wirsén has also had solo exhibitions at the National Museum, Konstnärshuset (Artists’ House) in Stockholm, the Swedish embassies in Washington and Tokyo, Avesta Art, and Bror Hjorths Hus in Uppsala.
