Why do couples move in together? Research has shown that people have different reasons why they move in together. The top reason why they move together is to spend more time with the person they are dating. Some say that it is for financial practical reasons; they want to test their relationship; and a number do not believe in marriage.

However, it has been observed that there are also disadvantages in living together. For instance, living together out of convenience or simply testing the relationship may lead to certain problems as time passes by. Living together in convenience, the women tend to perceive the couple as having less relationship confidence and less dedication. For couples who are testing their relationship, both parties claim having negative interactions, more psychological aggression and less confidence in relationship, adjustment and dedication.

Recent studies have shown that cohabit is either a win or lose relationship. If the couple both clearly show active and clear commitment before deciding to live in such as getting engaged before living in together, then the outcome may be more positive compared with those who are cohabiting out of convenience.

Being with your partner 24/7 is fun as it gets. However there is always the downside of it. It may be frustrating to know that with regards to interior design preferences, the two of you do not quite match up as well as your personalities. You may want your interior to look classy but your partner prefers it to look modern. In order to prevent this conflict among couples, compromise is the key element in order to have a successful relationship.

More often than not, women tend to retain the feminine touch of the house. Feminine colors of the upholstery, pillow cases and the curtains. Couples can meet halfway to avoid conflict in deciding for the most appropriate interior design. This means that there can be balance even if what is dominating the design is the feminine side.

Here are some tips on how to decorate your home together with your partner:

1. Check your stuffs – before going shopping, make an inventory first so that you will know exactly the things that you will be needing.

It is best that you do this with your partner so that decision making will be a collaboration between the two of you. 3. Shop together – visit first flea markets and antique shops. They may have the things that you need at a lower cost. If they are not available in those places, then check your stores. Decision making may be balanced when shopping with your partner. They may have better ideas than you.

4. At least buy something special for your partner – while shopping together, you may want to consider to buy something that your partner will appreciate. For example, a massaging machine so that it may be of use to your partner when he/she comes home from work.

5. Personalize it – buy something that you two will love together. For example, if both of you love to play video games, you may want to purchase a game console so that you may play together during your free time. This would also serve as a bonding for the two of you.
