About Henri De Toulouse Lautrec

Henri De Toulouse Lautrec (1864 - 1901) was a French painter, printmaker, draughtsman, caricaturist, and illustrator, whose experiences and exposure in the theatrical life of Paris in the late 19th century allowed him to produce a collection of enticing, elegant, and provocative images of the modern and decadent affairs during those years. He was among the best known painters of the Post - Impressionist period with Paul Cezanne, Vincent Van Gogh, and Paul Gauguin. Unfortunately, Lautrec was mocked for his short stature and physical appearance, which made him to become an alcoholic. He also frequented prostitutes due to his fascination to their lifestyle and lifestyle of the urban underclass and incorporated those characters into his paintings.
