Here are the ten of the world’s most famous interior designers and their most important contributions in interior design:
1. Philippe Starck – he is a popular French designer who contributed in wide range of fields, such as interior design, chairs, toothbrushes to electronic appliances. Starck was recognized in 1982 when he designed the interior of the apartment of Francois Mitterand, the former French president. His popular contributions are: Louis Ghost chair, Ero chair, Bubble Club Sofa and Armchair, and La Boheme stool. He was also renowned for his designs in the Peninsula Hong Kong, Cafe Costes in Paris and other high end restaurants, lounges and clubs.

2. Karim Rashid – hailing from Egypt and considered to be the best industrial designers of his generation. He is responsible for designing many products and is also involved in different fields such as interior design, fashion, furniture, lighting, art, and music.

3. Patricia Urquiola – a Spanish architect and designer and is one of the prominent names in interior design. She created many interesting and unique works and one of her popular works was designing the W Hotels Retreat and Spa on Vieques Island, which opened in Puerto Rico.
4. Federico Delrosso – started as an architect in 1996 and has been interested in the design within the walls of the buildings he created. He started a design studio in Milan and has been known for his combinations of apparently divergent materials such as concrete with wood, glass and iron. He also was able to combine all of these materials together in his designs.
5. Martin Brudnizki – one of the younger generations of interior designers. Brudnizki is from Sweden and his style is described as being “minimalist deluxe”. One of his popular projects is the Las Iguanas restaurant and bar wherein the large and high space is filled with warm wooden pieces of furniture and everything is welcoming and nice. He ensured that the bare wood is the connection with nature and looks warm and cool even without finishing.
6. Thierry W. Despont – a designer, artist and an architect. He is known for his old school approach in interior design. Originally from France, he traveled and worked all over the world and also had exhibits in New York. Despont was also a member of the team that reconditioned the Statue of Liberty.
7. Miles Redd – hailing from Atlanta, Miles Redd used to work as a set designer. He is considered as a remarkable designer since he can adjust to all kinds of styles and genres without any preconceptions and stereotypes. He is known for decorating and designing the interior of a house to reflect the owner’s personality.
8. Michael S. Smith – an American interior designer and is based in Los Angeles. Smith is known for designing the interior of the White House ever since 2008. The White House is known for being iconic for the average American citizen.
9. Catherine Widawska and Thomas Widawski – they are the two members of a Polish Family of architects and have succeeded in his own field. Their work can be defined by an apartment in Warsaw, Poland which they decorated. The interior appears modern and can even be described as futuristic at some areas.
